It’s summertime and if you’re a swimmer, chances are that you spend a lot of time in the pool. But have you ever noticed how your Speedo tan lines come out when it starts to cool down?

Well I know I have! And let me tell you: there is nothing wrong with them. It just means that you’ve been working hard this whole time and it’s finally paying off! So go ahead, show off those Speedo tan lines proudly. You deserve a pat on the back for what you’ve accomplished so far (and for being one step closer to achieving your goals)!

And remember, you will always get speedo tan lines with outdoor swimming, there’s no way to get around it, just minimize the effects with the following methods.

Swim indoor

Yes. Easiest solution for this the speedo tan lines is swimming indoor. Not only preventing speedo tan lines, but swimming indoor can be better for your hair & skin. You may not realize this, but UV rays from the sun can be harmful to your hair & skin. Your skin may get sunburnt if you are exposed for a long duration under strong sun. This may lead to skin cancer. Meanwhile, you may get swimmer’s hair which will deteriorate your hair’s condition. Someone with swimmer’s hair may get split ends, changes in color, and in some extreme case, hair loss.

But swimming in door with controlled condition is more expensive than swimming outdoor. And when you can’t swim indoor, what can you do?

Apply lotion to your skin before you go in the water

We all know that the sun can be very damaging to our skin, but you may not realize how much damage it can cause if you go in the water with dry skin. If your skin is dry before going into the pool or ocean, then you are more likely to get a rash from chlorine and saltwater.

The best thing to do is apply lotion to your body at least 15 minutes before getting in the water so that it has time to soak in. You should avoid putting lotion on any open wounds because this could lead to infection. Remember, always think about what kind of affect something will have on your body beforehand!

A body lotion with milk or coconut base is always a good idea.

Cover up with sunscreen after you get out of the pool

Did you know that after swimming in a chlorinated pool, your skin can be up to 10 times more sensitive than before? This means it is important to use sunscreen for all of the exposed areas on your body as soon as possible.

This is because UV rays from sunlight are filtered out by water, but chlorine and other chemicals used to keep pools clean react with DNA in the skin’s cells, forming dangerous compounds that lead to sunburns.

Use self tanner

Self tanners are a great way to get rid of those pesky tan lines. Self tanner can be applied before or after swimming and will give you a much more even, natural-looking glow that lasts for days.

If you are looking for the best self tanner, one with DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is your best bet. You can find this type of self tanner at most drugstores and it’s typically used in professional tanners. The downside to this type of product is that it takes a few days to develop the desired color but once it does, it lasts much longer than other types of sunless tanners which only last a couple weeks. Most people who use DHA say they never go back to anything else.
